Entity: VetMaps LLC, a North Carolina limited liability company
1. Information We Collect
Provided by you: name, business role, email, phone number, account/login information, Listing claim and verification submissions, communications with VetMaps, advertising purchase and transaction records.
Collected automatically: IP address, device identifiers, cookie and analytics identifiers, pages visited, search terms. With your permission, VetMaps processes location data to return geographically relevant search results. You can withdraw location permission through your browser or device settings.
From public and third-party sources: state Secretary of State business registries, SBA data, and other publicly available business information used to build and verify Listings.
2. How We Use Information
To operate and display the directory (including publishing Listing information publicly); verify and reverify Listings; process advertising purchases and measure ad performance; respond to claim, correction, removal, and ownership-dispute requests; communicate with Business Owners; prevent fraud and maintain platform security; maintain audit records; comply with legal requests and enforce our Terms; and defend legal claims.
3. Sale and Sharing of Information
VetMaps does not sell personal information for monetary consideration. Business Listing information is intentionally published publicly and is visible to site visitors and search engines as part of the directory’s core function. Beyond public Listing display, we share information with: service providers (payment processing via Stripe, hosting, email delivery, Vercel Analytics); professional advisors; fraud and security partners; legal authorities when required by law; and parties involved in a merger, financing, or sale of assets. We do not otherwise share personal information without your direction or consent.
4. Payment Information
Payments are processed by Stripe. VetMaps does not store full card numbers. VetMaps may receive limited transaction information from Stripe, such as payment status, billing contact, card type, and the last four digits of your card.
5. Cookies and Analytics
We use Vercel Analytics to understand site usage and improve the platform.
6. Your Choices
You may:
- —request to access, correct, or delete your account information;
- —request removal or correction of a business Listing;
- —opt out of marketing email;
- —withdraw a previously granted location permission through your device settings;
- —submit a request through an authorized agent, subject to identity verification; and
- —appeal a denied privacy request by contacting admin@vetmaps.com for a secondary review.
Some information (e.g., billing records, security logs, records needed for legal compliance) may be retained even after a removal request.
7. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information, including access controls and secure data handling practices. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Data Retention
We retain verification submissions, advertiser records, and correspondence for as long as needed to operate the directory, resolve disputes, and comply with legal obligations, after which they are deleted or anonymized.
9. Age Requirement
VetMaps is not directed at children. You must be at least 18 to submit a Listing, claim a Listing, or purchase advertising. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. We will post the effective date and, for material changes, provide additional notice where required by law.
