Terms of Use

“Listing” means a business profile displayed on VetMaps. “Business Owner” means a person submitting, claiming, or managing a Listing on behalf of a business. “Advertiser” means a Business Owner purchasing paid placement, governed additionally by the separate Advertiser Agreement. “Verified” or any verification label refers solely to VetMaps’ own review methodology as described in Section 5.

By accessing VetMaps.com, submitting a Listing, or purchasing advertising, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge our Privacy Policy. If you are acting on behalf of a business, you represent that you have authority to bind that business. You must be at least 18 years old to submit a Listing, claim a Listing, or purchase advertising.

VetMaps is a directory of businesses identified as veteran-owned, veteran-led, veteran-supporting, or spouse-owned. Listings are created two ways: submitted or claimed directly by a Business Owner, or compiled by VetMaps from publicly available sources without the owner’s direct involvement. VetMaps assigns directory status labels (e.g., “Community Submitted,” “Verified Veteran-Owned,” “Veteran-Serving,” “Spouse-Owned”) based on its own review process. VetMaps is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or certified by the Department of Defense, Department of Veterans Affairs, or any government agency unless explicitly stated.

Inclusion in the VetMaps directory is not an endorsement of any business’s products, services, quality, licensing, insurance, legality, availability, or current operating status. Verification concerns only VetMaps’ own methodology described below and is not a warranty of any of the above. Users must independently evaluate any business before transacting with it.

“Verified Veteran-Owned” and similar labels mean VetMaps identified specific categories of publicly available evidence supporting military service and business ownership as of the date of review. Verification:

• —is based on evidence available at the time of review;
• —does not guarantee continuing accuracy or ownership;
• —is not a government certification and is separate from official SBA designations such as VOSB or SDVOSB;
• —may be reconsidered, suspended, or removed if new information arises;
• —may be challenged or reported by any Business Owner or third party by contacting admin@vetmaps.com.

By submitting or claiming a Listing, you represent that the information provided is accurate, that you have authority to provide it, and that you will keep it current. You grant VetMaps a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, distribute, format, resize, and otherwise use submitted Listing content as reasonably necessary to operate, promote, and improve the directory, including through service providers acting on VetMaps’ behalf. You represent that you own the submitted content or possess all rights necessary to grant this license. This license ends when the content is removed from VetMaps, except for reasonable backup, archival, legal-compliance, and dispute-resolution retention. VetMaps has sole discretion to resolve claim conflicts, impersonation reports, and Listing disputes, and may remove or suspend a Listing pending resolution.

Paid advertising is governed by the separate Advertiser Agreement, incorporated here by reference. Advertising status has no effect on the underlying free Listing except as described in the Advertiser Agreement.

You may not: submit false or fraudulent information; scrape, harvest, or systematically extract data from VetMaps; use automated querying or bots against the site; attempt to circumvent security measures or reverse-engineer the platform; interfere with the normal operation of the site; impersonate another business or person; harass other users; infringe intellectual property rights; post unlawfully discriminatory or misleading content; or resell VetMaps data.

VetMaps’ branding, site design, compiled directory data, and original written content are the property of VetMaps LLC. Business-provided material (logos, business-supplied descriptions, photos) remains the property of the submitting business, licensed to VetMaps under Section 6. VetMaps does not claim copyright ownership in underlying facts merely because those facts appear in the directory. VetMaps may own copyright or other rights in its original descriptions and in the selection, coordination, and arrangement of directory content to the extent protected by law.

VetMaps has designated an agent to receive notices of claimed copyright infringement. Instructions and the designated agent’s contact information are available on VetMaps’ Copyright and DMCA Policy page. Repeat infringers’ content will be removed and access may be terminated. Trademark or business-name disputes should be directed to admin@vetmaps.com with supporting documentation.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, VetMaps is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. VetMaps is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of the platform, reliance on Listing information, or interactions with businesses found through VetMaps. VetMaps’ total aggregate liability for any claim arising from these Terms or use of the platform is limited to the amount you paid to VetMaps in the 12 months preceding the claim. Nothing in this section limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless VetMaps LLC and its officers, employees, contractors, and agents from claims, damages, liabilities, judgments, losses, costs, and reasonable attorneys’ fees arising from: your submitted Listing or Advertising content; your products, services, or business practices; your violation of these Terms or the Advertiser Agreement; or your violation of any law or third-party right. VetMaps may assume control of the defense using counsel of its choice. You may not settle a claim in a manner that admits fault by, imposes obligations on, or requires payment from VetMaps without VetMaps’ written consent.

VetMaps may link to or integrate with third-party sites and services, including business websites, mapping services, Vercel Analytics, hosting providers, email providers, and Stripe for payment processing. A link or integration does not constitute an endorsement, and VetMaps is not responsible for third-party content or practices.

VetMaps may be modified, suspended, or discontinued in whole or in part at any time, including for maintenance, technical issues, or circumstances beyond our control (force majeure). We do not guarantee uninterrupted access or the continued availability of any particular feature or Listing position.

VetMaps may suspend, remove, or refuse Listings or advertising at its discretion when necessary to maintain the integrity of the platform, including for violation of these Terms. Sections concerning intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and dispute resolution survive termination.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina. Any dispute arising from these Terms or use of VetMaps shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in North Carolina, except that either party may bring an individual claim in small claims court.

Any feedback or suggestions you provide about VetMaps may be used by VetMaps without obligation or compensation to you.

These Terms and, for Advertisers, the Advertiser Agreement constitute the entire agreement between you and VetMaps concerning use of the platform. Our Privacy Policy describes how VetMaps collects, uses, and shares information but is not incorporated into these Terms as a contractual obligation. If the Advertiser Agreement conflicts with these Terms on advertising-specific matters, the Advertiser Agreement controls. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. VetMaps’ failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver. These Terms may not be assigned by you without our consent; VetMaps may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. VetMaps may communicate with you electronically, and you consent to receive communications electronically.

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be posted with a “last updated” date and, where required by law, additional notice will be provided before the change takes effect for existing Advertisers.
